Our Appointment with the Lord—and With One Another

Sunday arrives. It is time to remember Jesus in the very special way He requested the night before He died for us.

“This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this,  as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” (1 Cor.  11:24, 25).

Sunday arrives. It is the first day of the week. It is the Lord’s  Day—the day our Lord arose victorious over death.

“On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread. . .” (Acts 20:7).

Sunday arrives. Like our first-century brethren we leave our homes and assemble together for a common purpose, drawn together by our common faith in Jesus as Lord.

We partake together. We meditate in unison on what He did for each of us that day. We realize that without His sacrifice we would be without hope. Our unity is enhanced by this simple but profound act of worship.

“The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?

Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread” (1 Cor. 10:16-17).

Sunday has come. We meet at the Table.
