Every Day I Need to Pray

Today and every day I must pray.

Every day I need to praise. I need to look up and be reminded of the awesome majesty of my Creator, Provider, Redeemer, and Father. I need to lift my eyes above the petty, mundane details of life and acknowledge the glory of God. I must daily be made aware of the wonder of the power and the grace of God. “Lord, I praise You!”

Every day I need to give thanks. How good God has been to me! My cup overflows with blessings too numerous to count. How can I be grateful and discontented at the same time? “Lord, I thank You!”

Every day I need to acknowledge my dependence. By praying to the One who made me and sustains me daily I am admitting I cannot make it on my own. Recognizing this helps keep me humble. “Lord, I need You!”

Every day I need to confess my sins. I must remember that I continue to fall short of God’s glory and that I stand daily in need of His grace and the cleansing blood of His Son. “Lord, forgive me!”

Every day I need to pray for others. I cannot afford the luxury of self-centeredness. Prayer helps me remember that I am not the only one with needs. “Lord, please comfort Cassie who lost her mom. May You restore the Barretts’ baby to health! May Jerry, who was laid off today, soon find another job! Help me to know how to encourage Jared, who feels so alone. May You grant wisdom to those who lead our nation during this difficult time.”

Today and every day I must pray.
