The Challenges of Living
Life can be awfully stressful, can’t it? Paying bills, meeting deadlines, dealing with traffic, paperwork, housekeeping, car repairs, etc. Whew! And that’s only part of it.
In view of all these demands on our time, money, and patience, it’s easy to feel totally frustrated, drained, irritated, and burned out.
No philosophy of life is better suited to dealing with the stresses and strains of our hectic days than Christianity. The Lord knew we would have problems, and His word addresses our needs in this area. In many passages we are assured that:
1) God is with us in difficult times—we don’t have to face our troubles alone without His help (2 Timothy 4:16-18).
2) We can use our problems as opportunities for spiritual growth (James 1:2-4; Romans 5:3-5).
3) Someday we’ll enjoy complete relief and abundant reward (James 1:12).
When we add to all these encouragements the inspiring examples in Scripture of those who endured far greater trials than we face, we then have more than enough reason to make it through another day.
